Tampere-Jukola opened in a sunny weather |

Tampere-Jukola event has started in a sunny weather. Thousands of people arrived well in time to watch the opening ceremony of Tampere-Jukola. In the beginning of the ceremony, the white-and-orange Jukola flag was hoisted in the rythm of the military music.
Erkki Eskelinen, the Competition Director, wished all welcome to the event. He gave his special thanks to the Signal Brigade and the Armoured Brigade of the Finnish Defence Forces and the city of Tampere for their support. Also all the voluntary workers were thanked for their work.
Tampere-Jukola was opened by Timo P. Nieminen, the Mayor of Tampere. In his speech he was thinking back to the old saying in Tampere, where Teisko is considered to be abroad.
The opening ceremony was finished by the blessing given by Olli Hallikainen, the dean of Tampere, and the hymn Suvivirsi.
